2 is not prime
Published by admin April 24th, 2007 in NumbersI did not know that mathematics was also inflicted with the same scholastic disease as physics. But I read that doctors of mathematics consider 2 to be prime!
Obviously, there cannot be a prime which is also even. 2 is even. Therefore, 2 is not prime.
Furthermore, 1 is not a number. 1 is unity. Unity should not enter into the definition of primes. “All numbers are divided by 1″ is a silly statement.
To find primality we compare two numbers. The result of comparison gives us if a number is prime. We say that if after subtraction we obtain zero, the number is not prime. If there is no number smaller than the number which does not result in zero remainder the number is prime.
Therefore, 2 is not prime. There is no number smaller than 2 which can be subtracted from 2. Even you make 1 that number, than you obtain zero after subtracting twice.
