“Physics without Newton” gets 20 hits in Google. These quotes show how entrenched Newtonism is in our society. Newton and his disciples made the words Newton, physics and science synonyms. Today humans agree with this Newtonist view and equate Newton and physics with science.

The reality is that nothing Newton discovered is used in science. Nothing Newton discovered is used even in physics. Newton did not make any discoveries. Newton made useless scholastic definitions. Newtonian definitions are eliminated when it comes time to make astronomical calculations.

To study physics without Newton will actually be good not only for students but for entire humanity.

It is true that it is impossible to study physics without Newton the way it is impossible to study Peripatetic philosophy without Aristotle. Newton is the founder of the school of physics. Physics is Newtonian philosophy.

One of the comments say that “there was plenty of physics before Newton. Rockets would have happened with or without Newton.”

This is true in a way but since the word physics is meaningless every reader would read the above sentence differently.

There was no physics before Newton in the good sense of that word. What we call  physics today was called scholasticism before Newton. Newton simply changed the name of European scholasticism.
