Change Physics

I recognize that Change Physics is the same problem as Change Congress. But I think that Changing physics is even more impossible than changing the Congress. After all Physics has been around as a bureaucracy for over 5000 years. Yes, this bureaucracy has been changing its name to adjust to the changing times but it has been around since the pyramid builders ruled the Earth. Physics is the bureaucracy of the priestly scribes. When pharaohs lost their ruling power to ruling institutions scribes too incorporated themselves and became the professional doctors. The historical constant is the same bureaucracy.

How naive Lessig looks when he thinks he can change the Congress! Naivete is a good quality to have when you embark on an apparently impossible task. The fundamental issue here is that humans cannot cooperate across generations. The Congress is immortal compared to human individual. Lessig then must create an institution, and indeed he has, the change-congress.org. At best this institution will become a living organism itself just like the Congress and its only goal will be to perpetuate itself indefinitely and it will never achieve its goal.

Lessig was clever enough not to enter the Congress to change the Congress. He knows that the change cannot come from inside. Same for physics. The change must come from outside.

Who is outside? Consumers. Look at the people who vote to empower the Congress or the President. They act exactly as expected from consumers of entertainment. All they want is to get more intoxicated with entertainment. They do not realize that the President cannot and will not make any change. Lessig notes this too. He says the President alone cannot change the Congress. Worse than that. The President can change nothing. He holds the office at most for eight years. The hierarchy, the Organism or the Orgus who employs him is immortal. The hierarchy cannot be changed by a mortal.

Think about habits. Your own habits. The chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken. The Congress is a habit over two centuries old. It cannot be broken. The habit of the Congress is invisible to people who vote and expect change. As a rule, any habit for whose honor a cupola has been built cannot be removed.

The people who collectively has the power to break the established habit or the Congress are not aware that it needs to be changed or that they possess the power to change it. They don’t have a memory of a life without the habit. They think this or that candidate can change it. They evaluate candidates by their charisma. They evaluate candidates by how they speak. By what they say. By how the candidates interact with each other, not by their ability to change the habit. And every candidate runs on the promise of change.

The voter-consumers are trained to perceive only brands. So in candidates they see brands. They vote for the brand that suits them best. The way they choose the shampoo that is branded for their type of hair. No matter that all shampoos have the same ingredients. Pathetic. But it is true.

So the people who can make the change have no intention of making a change. They don’t even know that they have this power to make a change if they could act together.

Same in physics. The same consumers who vote are also the consumers of cosmogonic scenarios marketed to them as ultimate secrets of the universe. These consumers are busy maximizing the value they extract from their stay on the Earth. They don’t want to make any change. They want to extract the most value from their life. This means the most pleasure. Which means the most entertainment. That’s why politics is offered to them as entertainment. The unhuman organisms feeding on the consumers, the Congress, the Government, the Media are all laughing. They know very well nothing will change. The candidate A is as good a figurehead as the candidate B.

That’s why physics is offered to the consumers as entertainment which includes time travel and mysterious warped dimensions peddled in comedy shows and on the pages of the Cosmopolitan magazine.

Is there hope for a change in physics without the help of the people? I don’t know. The people are the consumers. They don’t care about physics. As long as Doctors of Philosophy feed them authoritative cosmogonic scenarios to fulfill a minor need in their entertainment spectrum they are happy. That spectrum was previously fulfilled by Doctors of Theology. I don’t think consumers know the difference or care about it.

Physics and politics may differ in one respect. In physics we may be able to show that the physics bureaucracy is based on the British occult religion called Newtonism. The faith of this religion is Newton’s Soul. And that this British religion has infiltrated the education system. It is a long shot. True.

Imagine it succeeds. Even success will not eliminate the scholastic bureaucracy. The bureaucracy will change its name and pretend to be a new pro-science creature. It won’t go away. So from Newtonism it will change its name to Einsteinism and will present itself as the true science and define Newtonism as the old occult religion. This has always been like this.

Yes. Today I am skeptical that any true change will come unless the consumers will become aware of this situation. But this is almost impossible because young people, the majority of the population, will never care. The education system takes care of that. The human offspring is “educated” to become a Newtonian. And also he is educated to become a consumer and he becomes a consumer. For the consumer physics theories are nothing more than brands that they consume. The consumer has absolutely no intentionĀ of changing the system and endanger her lifestyle. The drug of entertainment is too powerful to consider giving it up.

So as far as I can see the task of changing physics is as hopeless as changing the congress. But I will push to understand what can be done. I wish Lessig good luck.
