It is not fair to generalize the ills of physics to all doctors of philosophy. The reason is that 99 per cent of doctors have no say in altering the code of physics. 99 per cent of doctors spend their careers serving the hierarchy and teaching the dogma to the next generation of doctors.

So when I write that doctors of philosophy are scoundrels who invented G in the 19th century in order to save Newton’s authority, well, this is totally unfair to a modern worker ant doctor who will never in his or her career get the chance to change the physics canon. His or her time will be taken up by administrative tasks, endless meetings, frustrations of not being able to get to work on hot topics, and teaching and trying to get ends meet with academic salaries.

Obviously, there is “good physics” as opposed to scholastic academic physics. I would say a field such as materials science falls into the good physics category. I believe that there is no room in this kind of work for scholastic theories and principles invented by academic doctors of physics to investigate absolutes.

I don’t know much about materials science and its relation to physics, though. I would appreciate comments on this.

Also looking at the profession of physics we see that there is no standard of evidence for the professional product of physicists but also there is no standard of evaluation for the work of physicists. I believe that if such a professional grading could be formalized it would be very useful in physics.

For instance, in the field of law, lawyers and law firms are classified and rated and graded in every conceivable way. The practice of lawyers and physicists are very similar. The only difference is that physicists do not have a formal constituency. Physicists are the only professional group which do not have a constituency. This is why society does not regulate physics. And this is why the Big Media exploits physicists so cruelly.

The result of a lack of formal grading system for physicist is that now, instead of being graded by the value of their professional product, physicists are being graded by fame. Because for the Big Media the only unit of evaluation of humans is fame. Physicists are doing a great injustice to themselves, to physics and to science by letting Big Media rate a Lisa Randall as top physicist with most authority while thousands and thousands of physicists who do good work do not get credit because they are not rated to have enough fame. This is a crooked system.

I also believe that talking about science is not doing science. Talking about physics is not doing physics either. Although talking about the ills of physics is to help science.

I still believe that the culture of physics defines the content of physics. And that’s why I think it is good to talk about the hierarchy of physics and how this hierarchy serves the anti-science and not science.

As several people mentioned here, it is an unjustified generalization to call all doctors names simply because they are doctors. I agree. But please let me know how to classify doctors according to the type of work they do and their contribution on human knowledge. Thanks!
