Physicists answer all questions about Nature by Newton’s authority. Physicists reversed the direction of the mythmaking process but it is still the mythological explanation of phenomena by authority, or more generally, by definition. The process goes like this:

1. Notice a repetition

2. Assign a word to the repetition

3. Define the assigned word as the cause of the repetition

4. Anthropomorphize the cause by sculpting it

5. Attribute human actions to the anthropomorphized label.

This is the traditional explanation by definition packaged as mythology. Now assume the 5th step is not an anthropomorphized label but a real being, Newton, the chain still works and it is still mythological explanation:

Physicists deified Newton and made Newton’s Soul the universal cause. The way religion unified multitude of pagan gods under monotheism, Newton’s disciples unified natural phenomena under monocausism. They don’t have to invent a separate cause for each phenomena but their method is no less mythological.

Monocausism has been the standard method of scholasticism. Scholastics define a conventional unit and enforce it as the ultimate true law, whether of religion, society or Nature does not make any difference.

In physics all observations have the same cause, Newton’s Soul or force, or authority, which is again explanation by definition. In politics this is called authoritarianism, monarchy, or absolutism, personified by the self-mythologizing ruler, in science it is scholasticism combined with a personality cult, or Shamanism.

Two thousands years after Thales professional physicists still believe in the authority of Shamans. Science is the rejection of explanation by definition.¹
