Can you tell which monopoly will be toppled by the online revolution? I bet it will be scribes again.
Internet made the production and distribution of knowledge dirt cheap. Already we have witnessed the fall of various parasitic professional classes who made their living by hording knowledge wholesale and selling it retail. Next we will witness the fall of Newtonian scholastic physics. Newtonism is the modern name of the oldest knowledge monopoly in existence.
Scribes is a historical constant. As a constant they have characteristics which do not change when they change their professional name in order to adjust to changing times.
The constants are:
- Scribes work for rulers
- Scribes define a language and hide it from their constituency as a proprietary and sacred language only they are allowed to use.
- Scribes form a professional brotherhood in order to enjoy a parasitic life without labor
- Scribes establish a protected monopoly on knowledge and enforce this monopoly with the help of the ruler.
We have seen that this professional class have blocked the development of human knowledge for thousands of years.
Today physicists are the scribes.
Please leave a comment why you think the last sentence is wrong.
If you think last sentence is right then it is your duty to humanity to join forces against the modern scribes in order to free human knowledge.
