The global Newton brand
Published by admin June 19th, 2007 in UncategorizedThe usual down escalator at Borders was up escalator today and I had to walk to the other side passing through the new non-fiction section. I noticed this book: God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything by Christopher Hitchens.
I checked the index for the word “marketing.” I didn’t see it. How can one write a book about religion and not mention marketing? Religion is marketing. Religion is branding. Religion is book publishing. History’s first publicity tour by Paul established the book he was promoting as The Book.
Another point is that such books as these assume to know what religion is. They identify a traditional corporation such as Catholicism as religion and they contrast it to another corporation, Newtonism which they call science. Catholicism coupled to Aristotelianism was perceived as science for millennia by its constituency. Newtonism replaced this Church plus Aristotelianism with Newtonism.
When a faith based belief system no longer appears to its faithful as religion1 it appears to them as science. In other words, the new dominant doctors always define the old doctors as religion and themselves as science. This is nothing other than an academic turf war to save the soul, read, to feed off the laboring classes, by the priestly class of scribes. Newtonism is the religion which still appears as science to most people. Because scholastic doctors of philosophy have been actively marketing their Newtonist religion as science. For the first time in history we have the opportunity to free human mind from these colonizing professionals. For the first time humans have the opportunity to transfer the scientific authority from deities and their servants the scribes to the people. The first step is to identify Newtonism as religion.
