The Label is the Substance

- The Free Software movement
- The movement to remove the middlemen
- The fight for free flow of information
- The right to free access to the source of information by everyone
- Human unification by sharing and by forming communities
- Blogging revolution
are movements against unhuman monopolies profiting from obstructing the free flow of information from its source to the people. These movements attack two branches of a three-prong organism called the Big Org.
Big Media controls the flow of news.
Big Publishing, or Big Book, controls the flow of information through book and journal publishing
The third prong of the Big Org is Scholasticism, or the Big School.
Big School has not yet been recognized as a major branch of the Big Org.
Big School is controlled by Doctors of Philosophy. Unlike Big Media and Big Book Doctors of Philosophy do not own tangible assets such as production hardware requiring major investment. Such ownership would have made the Big School visible.
Big School does not display a unified branded image like private corporations. This too makes it difficult to identify Big School as the third branch of Big Org.
Scholasticism is the oldest corporation in existence. Maybe that’s why it is so invisible.
Once the stealth nature of Big School is recognized and once its existence is perceived by more and more people the same war of independence conducted against the other two branches of Big Org will be opened for Big School as well.
The cause is to end the proprietary ownership of human knowledge and language by Big Doctors.
Big Media controls the source of information and the distribution channels but it supplies a valuable service. The customer at least gets access to some of the news even if that news is what Big Media have chosen to sell that day.
Big School is pure marketing. The business of Big School can be likened to marketing of commodities such as shampoos. The ingredients of all shampoos are more or less the same. Marketers create fancy labels to differentiate their brands. But Big School simply markets the label without any content:
“The critics are right,” wrote Nobel laureate Doctor Weinberg, “we have no single prediction of string theory that is verified by observations. Even worse, we don’t know how to use string theory to make predictions. Even worse than that, we don’t really know what string theory is.”
Doctors of Philosophy are such sophisticated and elegant marketeers that they are marketing a pure brand which has no substance and has no value, not even the value of a bottle of shampoo.
Doctors market pure elegance with no substance as the most absolutely true theory of all times. In Big School the label is the substance. The brand is the only substance you buy when you buy the Elegant Universe.
Therefore the Big School has reached the highest stage of pure marketing. They only market pure labels, nothing but the label stamped with the Doctoral seal of authority.
The reporters and editors of the Big Media may be obstructing the flow of knowledge but Doctors of Philosophy are con artists who are perpetuating a fraud by marketing a substanceless substance as a scientific theory.
Exposing this fraud will free a tremendous amount of intellectual energy. I am hoping that bloggers who recognize the evil nature of Big Media and Big Book will also include Big School in their blogs and popularize the fight to free human access to human knowledge now blocked by Doctors of Philosophy.
