Freedom of Science

Today science is no longer an independent entity. To make a change in science we need to deal with the media and charismatic religious Newtonian evangelists, such as Doctor Brian Greene.

There is clearly a strong collusion between Doctors of Philosophy, the media and the global publishing industry. (It is not clear that “the media” and “the global publishing industry” are two different entities.

Today the following are classified under science by Doctors of Philosophy:

• Time travel (nothing other than the new name of the old standard religious miracle of raising the dead. Because humans are fascinated with this mythology this mythology refuses to die.)
• Reading the mind of god
• Writing and marketing cosmogonic mythologies such as the Big Bang
• Various absolute cosmogonic scenarios mixed with number mysticism such as particle physics

We want to move these subjects from the Science section of the New York Times to its weekly religion supplement. This cannot be achieved without a carefully planned and executed marketing plan.

Cosmogonic scenarios are cosmogonic scenarios.

Cosmogony is religion. The authority Doctors use to justify their cosmogonic speculations, whatever that authority is, cannot turn cosmogonic speculations into something else. Cosmogonic speculations supported even by the highest authority, God, is still cosmogonic speculations. Cosmogonic speculations supported by the pidgin mathematics Doctors call physics is still cosmogonic speculations.

Doctors of Theology use the word of a supernatural being as the source of their authority.

Doctors of Philosophy use the word of a supernaturalized thing they call equation as their authority.

Neither authority can turn physics into a science. In both cases the professional Doctors order us to take their authority as the true authority.

By experience we know that it pays to get a second opinion when dealing with professional Doctors. In the case of lawyers, medical doctors, bankers and all other kinds of professionals we must get a second opinion. Doctors of Philosophy are no different than any other Doctors. The verb “to Doctor” was invented to describe the traditional way Doctors do their business. There is no other industry where there are so many regulatory requirements to rein in the Doctors from doctoring the data, their colleagues and their constituencies.

Who can give a second opinion to check the opinions of the Doctors of Philosophy?

The answer: The court of law.

But today, we can evaluate Doctors’ opinion by forming an internet jury.

The challenge is to develop a case as simple and as black and white as the Scopes trial. After all the parties are same. Only that in this case Doctors of Philosophy play the role of the Doctors of Theology. For most people it is impossible to recognize the fact that Brian Greene is the equivalent of the Charismatic Christian fundamentalist evangelist. They have a hard time recognizing the fact that Briane Greene and his ilk are religious priests of Newtonist religion spreading the gospel of this 17th century British religion on US citizens and successfully converting millions of innocent non-suspecting citizens.

The face of religion is in continuous flux and religion always adapts the new trends in society and religion always impersonates science by defining the old religion as religion and itself, the new religion, as science. This scheme is as old as history and it still works.

Briane Greene likes to compare String Theory to Creationism and state that String Theory is science while creationism is religion. In fact, both String Theory and Creationism are religion. The comparison is between String Theory and science. Compared to science String Theory is religion.

Sean Carroll of Cosmic Variance also likes to compare cosmology to Christianity in order to prove that Christianity is religion but Cosmology is science. Both Christianity and Cosmology are religions.

The public trial must have a very simple and practical case that can be processed easily by the media.

As soon the scientific authority will be transferred to people human reason will be freed from Newton’s three hundred years old choke hold.
