I would make one change on the plot. The plot is not Contributions v. Talent. In physics talent has no value. The currency of physics is authority. Therefore, the plot must be Publication v. Authority:

What Flip tomato calls “crap papers” are actually commentaries written by Witten’s disciples. These commentaries increase Witten’s authority by increasing Witten’s scholastic PageRank. This is scholasticism.
The fact that physics is done by a media-created and media-annointed celebrity shaman is not surprising.
